[ʃ-], eigentlich Kitao Shigemasa, japanischer Meister des Farbholzschnitts, * 1739, ✝ Edo (heute Tokio) 8. 3. 1820; arbeitete zuerst im Stil seines Mitschülers Harunobu. Mit Shunshō schuf er Entwürfe zu Buchillustrationen, z. B. die Kurtisanendarstellungen im »Spiegel der Schönen aus den Freudenhäusern« (1776), aber auch Surimonos, Plakate und Kalenderblätter. Seine weiblichen Figuren auf neutralem Grund sind durch schöne Kleidung, natürliche Anmut und schlangenartige Bewegungen gekennzeichnet.
